FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA — Falls Township is bringing on board a new employee that supervisors call multi-talented .

The Board of Supervisors on Oct. 15 is expected to formally hire Matthew Takita as zoning officer, director of building, planning and code enforcement and assistant township manager. Takita will be hired at a salary of $120,000 a year, supervisors said.

Takita founded MTA LLC Architecture & Urban Design in 2018. Before that, he served for 24 years as director of Bensalem's building and planning department. While with Bensalem Township, Takita authored zoning regulations for a 675-acre revitalization district on the Delaware River.

He holds two dozen certifications from the International Code Council, including building code specialist, mechanical code official, fire plans examiner, residential building inspector and more.

He is a member and former chairman of the International Code Council's building code exam advisory committee, which helped transition the U.S. from three separate building codes to one standard code.

He'll replace former code and zoning officer Tom Bennett.

"The Board had been considering doing a formal search, but Matt's qualifications and experiences were so stellar that we realized we wouldn't have to," said supervisors Chairman Bob Harvie. "We knew that a search would not yield any candidate with the experience, qualifications and reputation greater than Matt's. His reputation as one of the finest zoning officers and code enforcement officers in Bucks County precedes him and is unquestioned."

"Matt’s nearly 30 years in municipal government made him the ideal candidate for the assistant manager position that the supervisors had been contemplating for some time."

Word of Takita's planned hiring comes just days after it was announced Falls Township Manager Peter Gray, who had submitted his resignation after 12 years on the job, had been convinced by supervisors to stay with the township.
