Island Trees Class of 2011: The Top 10
Read about where the school's top 10 students will be headed to college in the fall.

The following is courtesy of the Island Trees School District.
1. Brian Manning - As valedictorian, Brian gave a motivational speech at graduation about the nature vs. nurture debate. Brian will be attending Manhattan College next year to major in engineering and was the recipient of Manhattan College's engineering scholarship, the Social Studies Award, the AP Physics Academic Award, and the J. Fred Sparke Alumni Scholarship.
2. Kaitlin Anselmo – Kaitlin, the school salutatorian, will be spending part of her summer in South Africa working with Habitat for Humanity before beginning her college experience at the University of Southern California. Kaitlin was awarded the French Foreign Language Award at graduation, the French Academic Award at Senior Awards Night. She was also one of the Students of the Month for June and received the Town of Hempstead Community Service and Academic Excellence Award.

3. Donna Iadarola - Donna will be enrolling at UCLA in the fall to major in biochemistry. She was the recipient of the Island Trees PTA Council Scholarship, the Senior Music Scholarship, the AP Biology Academic Award and the Science Award.
4. Jessica Martin - Jessica will be heading to NYU. She received the Nassau County Community Service & Academic Award at Senior Awards Night in May.

5. Kevin Gomez – Kevin will attend Stony Brook University in the fall. He was the recipient of the Mathematics Award at graduation, and the Anthony Genzardi Memorial Scholarship, the French Academic Award, and the New York State Comptroller Achievement Award at Senior Awards Night.
6. Asha Matthews - Asha will be a freshman at St. Bonaventure University this fall, majoring in biology with hopes of pursuing a career in the medical field. Asha was the recipient of the AP Calculus Award at Senior Awards Night.
7. Marisa Mazzola - Enrolling at University of New Haven to major in criminal justice, Marisa was also the recipient of the Island Trees PTSA Scholarship and was one of Island Trees High School's Students of the Month for June.
8. Courtney McCall - Courtney will be attending University of Albany this fall. Her accomplishments at Island Trees include the Spanish Academic Award, presented to her at Senior Awards Night on behalf of the Foreign Language Department.
9. Phuong Pham - Phuong will be attending Stony Brook University in the fall with the goal of working in the medical field to follow her passion for helping people. Phuong received the New York State Attorney General's Office Triple C Award, presented to her for her courage, character and commitment. She also spends a great deal of time volunteering for a local youth group and plans to continue her involvement through her college years.
10. Alyssa Fazio - Alyssa will be heading to the University of Delaware in the fall. She was also the recipient of the J. Fred Sparke Alumni Scholarship, the Physical Education Award and the AP Literature Academic Award.
