Levittown Students Take on Library Monster
Lee Road students learn teamwork in library lesson.
According to monster detective Jason Edwards, there was a monster residing in the Levittown’s Lee Road Elementary School library.
Edwards of Face Your Monsters made a special trip to help teams of junior student detectives find the lurking beast by solving clues and decoding messages that led them to an array of shelved library books. Edwards said the goal of the activity was for students, unassisted, to learn to use the card catalog and to find a book, all while having fun.
“You must be smart, observant and persistent,” he told the students. “Teamwork is key.”

After solving three clues and decoding the messages, the students were not only led to specific books, but determined the location of the green, wiggly and not-so-scary monster that lurked on the library shelves. Not only did they learn to work in teams, the students acquired skills that will assist in their ability to locate interesting books and research specific topics.
