MacArthur Teacher, Students Attend Adelphi Poetry Day

MacArthur High School English teacher Michele Witte and ten students with exceptional writing skills attended Adelphi University’s 2015 Poetry Day.

These aspiring poets included Tatiana Clover, Victoria DiMartino, Adora Erdakos, Isabella Katz, Sarah Luebke, Jennifer Marquesano, Skye Mollica, Teresa Neri, Vincent Occhiogrosso and Alexis Winter.

The students attended two workshops, followed by a keynote address from accomplished poet, National Book Award Finalist and Princeton Professor James Richardson. The students learned about the latest trends in poetry and creative writing and practiced these techniques under the guidance of Adelphi University’s published faculty. In addition, sophomore Isabella Katz received an Award of Excellence for one of her poems.
