Wantagh Man Charged With Committing Multiple Burglaries While Wearing Cablevision Uniform

Ten home thefts occurred throughout Nassau County this summer, including three in Levittown.

A Wantagh man was arrested by Nassau County Second Squad detectives last night and charged with committing multiple burglaries while he was wearing a Cablevision uniform. The 10 home thefts occurred throughout the summer in Wantagh, Levittown, Seaford, Massapequa and Syosset, according to police.

Evan Schantz, 26, of Wildflower Lane, was arrested at his home on Sept. 14 at 9 p.m. and charged with 10 counts of second-degree burglary. Detectives said the burglaries consisted of Schantz entering unlocked windows of corner houses while wearing a Cablevision uniform and stealing jewelry from the residences.

The burglaries in Wantagh occurred on July 22, August 13 and August 31 while the thefts of Levittown homes took place on July 27, August 5 and August 31, police officials said. The other burglaries occurred in Massapequa on July 30, Seaford on July 31 and Syosset on August 20, according to police.

Schantz will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Sept. 16.
