Man Shot and Injured After LI Fight: PD

A Wyandanch man was injured after family members got involved in the teens' altercation Friday afternoon, police say.

WYANDANCH, NY — A 41-year-old man was shot and injured during a fight that started with teenagers Friday, Suffolk County Police said.

According to police, a group of teenagers engaged in a fight on Jamaica Avenue, between 32nd Street and 31st Street, at about 2:05 p.m. Adult family members of the teenagers responded to the scene and became involved in the altercation, police said. During the fight, a Wyandanch man was shot in the cheek by another man, police said.

The man was taken by Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
