Blogs of the Month: Little Things Make Lasting Memories

A look at some of the top blogs on Patch in November.

Patch bloggers take time out of their busy days to let you know about some things going on in their neck of the woods. Here, we've gathered what a few of them from around the area had to say. Rex is Clueless

Jets coach Rex Ryan was annoyed at the idea that the Jets’ offense has not been aggressively attacking opponent’s defenses.  He sarcastically took full responsibility for his team not being effective saying “It’s on me because we’ve been running the ball too much.  I got you.  I’ll take it. I’m with you all the way”. Yet Rex doesn’t get it.  It is on him, he is the head coach, a position he knows little about.

Veterans Day Parade in Babylon Village
Veterans Day is a day to remember all the men and women who have sacrificed their lives and thanking all who have or are serving in the military! Despite it being windy and cold, many came out to help support our men and women of the military! May they all come home safe and be with their loved ones real soon! The holiday's are coming so please don't forget about them! Send them cards or a care package! Keep paying it forward!

Little Things Make Lasting Memories

Scratching my head didn’t help me to remember what lay inside in the dusty, corrugated box, two feet deep, wide, and tall. It was dark with age and taking up too much space on my closet shelf. But based upon its look it must have been inherited from a storage area in my childhood home.

Legislator D'Amaro Swears In Parkdale Civic Association Officers

Members of the Parkdale Civic Association in North Babylon recently invited me to attend their monthly meeting to discuss issues of local concern and learn about legislative initiatives that impact the community. Topics of discussion included:  speeding vehicles, water levels at nearby Deer Lake and the county budgets.

Adventures into that Mysterious Dome

Some people find the cupola or dome atop the huge brick building on Spring Road to be rather mysterious. It’s been there since the structure went up in 1938 and was a distinctive feature of Robert K. Toaz Junior High School, which operated at the site from 1939 to 1982.

4th Annual Evelyn Knapp "Run to Remember"; A recap

Oh what a day it was, record cold temps, wind blasting in the open fields at 30+mph and the domino effect it presented. Thank you to the 90 “day of race’ registrants for waking up, feeling the conditions and deciding to come out to support Strength for Life and run. Record pre-registrants for the walk and run at 532 – kudos to you all – especially since 200 registered this last week knowing the weekly forecast.
