Clyde's Story

Hello, allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Clyde. I am one of a cast of characters, but considering I’m the most eloquent cat of the bunch, I figured I’d tell you my story. My 3 sisters and 2 brothers and I were born in a vacant house in Lindenhurst in July of 2012 and were found by the construction workers who were hired to renovate it. They passed us along in a cardboard box to the next door neighbors, knowing they were rescuing and socializing the other cats in the neighborhood. Their names are Dave and Kim. Pretty nice they are, as far as humans go. Especially when we were really little and they bottle-fed us for 2 weeks till we were reunited with our mom.  When my brother Finster and sister Blondie weren’t feeling well, they nursed them back to health. They brought us all to the doctor where we were fixed and got our shots…that was weird and not entirely pleasant. Then the word got out how cushy life was around here and more of my friends came around. Dave and Kim took really good care of them too, smothering them with love and attention and keeping them clean and healthy. Our road to furrever homes was right around the corner, however the rescue we were going to lost their lease and then…

…then came Sandy. I don’t know who Sandy is or what she looked like, but Dave and Kim don’t talk very fondly of her. Anyway, we had to leave our home! We stayed at this other house, which was nice and warm, but it wasn’t home. Our humans could only come around twice a day to feed us, clean our litter boxes and cuddle with us. They brought our kitty condo over and placed it by the window.  I remember sitting in it, looking out, waiting for them to return to us. We were all displaced for a while and when we came home, it was NOT the home I remember so fondly.  We now live in Dave and Kim’s old bedroom, only it’s way different now. We have catwalks all around so my sibs and I can run all around the room, never having to even touch the floor if we don’t want to. Actually all their old bedrooms have been changed for all my friends. We have all sorts of toys and our very own futon! Heck, we have it better than they do…they live in a camper outside.

Just yesterday, my little cousin Gunther…he’s just 6 months old, overheard Dave and Kim talking about how they may have to knock our house down and were upset because they don’t know where to bring us. On top of that, as you know, the long, cold winter is upon us, so keeping us warm in a in a house without insulation Is rather pricey…our kitty litter, medical expenses and the Friskees cat food that our bellies are used to. Is there any chance that you or someone you know may like a furry friend to take home? Or perhaps help us out financially…maybe donate food or kitty litter. Dave and Kim have spent an enormous amount of time, money and energy to help out the community in regards to the stray population. They’ve also given us an abundance of love and attention, which is all we’ve ever  known. It is what we’re planning to pass on to our new families.  A few of my fellow kitties have rescued humans and I hear it’s great. There are 18 of us Sandy survivors left and would really appreciate anything you could do to help us out…Spreading the word would even be greatly appreciated. Please reach out to Dave and Kim. We’d be delighted to hear from you.
