Group Of Dirt Bike Riders Nearly Run Car Off Road In Lindenhurst

The driver who was surrounded and nearly ran off the road by a group of dirt bike riders recalls the incident that occurred Sunday night.

LINDENHURST, NY — It was a scary situation for one Long Island man who says he was surrounded and nearly ran off the road by a group riding dirt bikes while driving in the Lindenhurst area Sunday night. Suffolk Police confirmed that they received a report of a man driving a 2015 Nissan Altima who was sideswiped by an ATV that fled the scene on Hoffman Avenue at about 5:30 p.m.

According to the firsthand account from the driver, who asked to remain anonymous, he was approached by six or seven dirt bikes on all sides while driving westbound on the road by the north side of the tracks. The man told Patch one of the dirt bikes hit the back drivers side of the car and sped up alongside the car.

"...at this point I’m on the phone with 911 and as I’m attempting to drive I had the quads and bikes on the side me and in front of me not allowing me to turn or go anywhere without taking a chance of crashing into any of them," he told Patch. "As I’m on the phone with 911 I have a dirt bike approach me from the back and it looked like a bat he was swinging in his hand at my back window as he kept on trying to get close at that point I proceeded to slam my brakes causing his bike to go down giving me a chance to try and take off which unfortunately wasn’t the case cause I got boxed in again up ahead thankfully we got up to Sunrise Highway where I just went not looking or anything and jumped off the first exit I saw."
