A Heaping Serving of Healthy at Daniel Street Elementary

Students learn from Dr. Robert Dell'Amore and chef Elaine Medi.

Students of Daniel Street Elementary School were recently served a helping of healthy information during the “The Power of Food” presentation with Dr. Robert Dell’Amore and chef Elaine Medin.

During the interactive presentation, lecturer, nutritionist and culinary educator Dell’Amore demonstrated for students how to combine vegetables, beans, olive oil and other fresh ingredients to prepare delicious and nutritious salt and sugar-free dishes that are rich in vitamins and low in saturated fat. He showed students that preparing healthy meals can be nutritious and delicious as well as a great way to spend time with your family.

Students also helped prepare a “Crazy Kale Salad” and a homemade dressing, by chopping and combining the ingredients introduced to them by Dell’Amore.
