Lindenhurst Officials Welcome Doggie Dooz to Village

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to mark the new business' opening by Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Tom Brennan and Suffolk County Legislator Wayne Horsley.

Despite the blustery, rainy weather on Thursday afternoon, the owners of Doggie Dooz - a beauty parlor for pets that's now open for business in Lindenhurst Village - were all smiles, as were the Lindy officials in attendance.

The new small business was welcomed into the Village fold with a ribbon-cutting ceremony outside the store that was organized by the Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce and attended by several members and President , Mayor Tom Brennan and Lindy-based Suffolk County Legislator Wayne Horsley.

"We're so happy to have the support of the community and feel so welcomed here," said Michelle Patti, co-owner of Doggie Dooz with her husband Joe.

"We thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for their help in getting us set up here and showing us love," Joe Patti added.

Michelle and Joe are from Ozone Park, Queens, and found the location in Lindenhurst when it was a thrift shop.

"Joe's mother used to shop at the thrift store, and our love for animals brought us here to start our own business," Michelle Patti explained. She and Joe are the proud owners of three dogs and cats.

To pampers the pooches and other pets at the "pawlor," they offer special packages such as a blueberry facial, mud bath and hot oil treatment. The store is equipped with a full bath for pets, two grooming tables and display boxes full of pet toys.

"It's wonderful to see an upscale beauty parlor for pets in the area," Chamber President Boettcher said. "They did a terrific job setting up their shop; everything looks top-of-the-line and ready to go."

"It's truly my pleasure to be here and welcome Doggie Dooz to the community," said Mayor Brennan. "We're going to do everything we can to bring in all the pet owners in Lindenhurst through here."

Legislator also expressed his appreciation for the new edition to the neighborhood: "It's great to have a business like this open up here. Lindenhurst is full of pet lovers."
