Lindenhurst Restaurants Back on Track after Irene

Local eateries see uptick before and after the hurricane.

One thing's for sure, no matter what the weather is, everyone has to eat. And someone has to serve.

As  faded away on Sunday, residents started heading out to restaurants throughout Lindenhurst. Some have been doing out of need, as many are . No fridge to store your food? No problem. Leave it to others to take care of post-Irene meals, and snacks.

"I'm hoping the weather stays nice and business continues," said Rose Pentaleri of Uncle Louie G's ices. "We were very fortunate that the storm didn't hurt the store."

Louie G's reopened on Monday afternoon, one of several area eateries to do so. It was the culmination of a wild weekend for restaurant owners and staff, one that for some, started with an uptick in business as folks stocked up before Irene arrived.

"We sold a lot of bagels before [Irene]," said Kevin of . "We did pretty good [post-storm]."

Greek Restaurant on Montauk Highway was quiet before the storm, but things picked up as the skies cleared and stomachs rumbled.

"We were open [Sunday], and everything was ok with us, so it worked out well. I know some other places that wasn't so, so for us it worked out well," said Kevin of Cusmos.

How about those down by the sea looking to eat something from the sea? Lindenhurst mainstay  Restaurant had to close early on Saturday as Irene approached. However, it reopened on Monday, with strong business expected. Most important to diners, Sea Haven never lost power during the hurricane, and its supply of lobsters and such was not affected.

"Got my deliveries [Monday], no problem at all," said Sea Haven owner Zach Plevritis.

So, if you're still without power, there are plenty of options on East Montauk Highway in the area of Delaware Avenue, as there are across all of Lindy. You'll find all your post-Irene dining needs accommodated, three meals a day. And don't forget the ices.
