Lindenhurst Social Distancing Parade Cancelled
The organizer recently announced that he decided to cancel the event originally scheduled for Saturday.

LINDENHURST, NY — A social distancing parade originally scheduled for next weekend in Lindenhurst has been cancelled. The organizer, Chris Cox, announced on Facebook on Friday that he decided to cancel the event, set for Saturday, April 11.
" I am reaching out to give my dearest apologies for upsetting many of you when honestly that was far from my intentions I was honestly looking to brighten up many people who unfortunately are going through the same thing with this horrific virus going on currently," he wrote. "Not once was I trying to hurt anyone put anyone at risk that was not my intentions at all. I’m sorry if anyone feels it was but as for now the parade was cancelled and will be scheduled for another time when it’s clear and a more appropriate time. Once again all I’m deeply sorry."
He originally came up with the idea after seeing a video of teachers in another state driving around town to interact with their students from the safety of their vehicles. After seeing that, he wanted to try do something similar for the Lindenhurst community. After receiving some backlash, he made the decision to cancel the event.
