Lindenhurst Students Awarded for Exceptional Service

Districts recognized 49 students with the prestigious Presidential Service Award.

The Lindenhurst School District recently recognized 49 students with the prestigious Presidential Service Award, given to those who complete a minimum of 50 hours of community service.

This is the largest number of students ever recognized in the district. Students were honored at a recent PTA council meeting, during which Assemb. Robert Sweeney presented certificates, letter from the president written on official White House letterhead and pins.

These award recipients are leading their young lives by example, the proof being how this program has encouraged others to volunteer their time. Three repeat award recipients were recognized for going above and beyond, accumulating the highest number of hours in their respective levels. Brittany Berrent received the bronze pin with acknowledgement of the 128.5 hours accumulated while Tianna D’Italia received a silver pin for her 204.5 hours accrued. A special acknowledgement was granted to Lindenhurst High School student Leann Dalton, who accumulated 273.5 hours of service.
