Man Dies After Falling From Bucket Truck While Cutting Trees in Lindenhurst

LINDENHURST, NY – A 35-year-old man died after falling fout of a bucket truck while cutting down trees in Lindenhurst Friday afternoon, police said.

According to police, Oscar Martinez, of Brentwood, was working in a bucket truck at 131 Akron Street when he fell from the truck to the ground at about 2:53 p.m.

Martinez was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead.

The incident appears to be non-criminal, police said. An autopsy will be conducted by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.

It's the second fatal accident involving a tree trimmer in as many months on Long Island. In June, a man was electrocuted after he came in contact with PSEG power lines while trimming a tree in Commack.
