Man Hit by SUV on Sunrise Highway in Critical Condition
The accident occurred Friday morning in Lindenhurst, police say.

A Lindenhurst man is in critical condition after being struck by an SUV on Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst Friday morning.
According to police, 29-year-old Gavin Charrette was walking on westbound Sunrise Highway near Straight Path when he was struck by a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer.
The driver of the Mountaineer, 23-year-old Angela Dambrosio, was making a right turn from a parking lot onto Sunrise Highway at 6:52 a.m.

Charrette was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.
Dambrosio, of Bay Shore, was not injured. No criminal charges have been filed.

The SUV was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
