Man Killed After Crashing Into Utility Pole In Amityville

The 32-year-old was the sole occupant of car during the crash early Monday.

AMITYVILLE, NY - A Dix Hills man was killed after crashing into a pole in Amityville early Monday, according to Suffolk Police.

Thomas Valentino, 32, was driving a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound on Sunrise Highway when the car veered off the roadway at the intersection of Albany Avenue and struck a utility pole at 2:10 a.m.

Valentino, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
