Massage and SLEEP

We all need it and at any given time of the day someone is complaining how tired they are.  We know how important sleep is to our overall health and well being. For some it’s not just a matter of going to bed early Sunday night to make up for a late Friday night. It could now be months, years or even weeks of disrupted sleep that has now transformed into more medical issues.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, “Insufficient sleep is associated with a number of chronic diseases and conditions—such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity and depression—which threaten our nation’s health. Notably, insufficient sleep is associated with the onset of these diseases and also poses important implications for their management and outcome.” 

These health issues generally require individuals to seek chemical solutions, and once they start taking the chemicals it becomes a life practice. Massage helps the body to release hormones, stabilize hormones and allow for the body to reach a state of rest, but it is not a onetime event.

Massage helps you obtain better sleep, not only by releasing hormones that help you stabilize the body, but simply by allowing muscles to reach a state of rest. The sore back that keeps waking you due to spasms, the numbness in the arms or an over active mind, can slowly be reduced with a few session of massage.
