New York Among Best States For Millennials In 2019: Report

Find out which states are the best and which are the worst for the most talked about generation.

NEW YORK - Love them or hate them, millennials are not going anywhere.

With millennials expected to be the largest generation by 2028, the question is which is the best state in the U.S. for all these early-20-to-early-30-year olds?

WalletHub looked to answer that question once again with their annual list ranking all 50 states and the District of Columbia on the best and worst states for millennials.

For 2019, New York was ranked as one of the best, coming in at number 14 on the list. Last year, New York ranked at number 19.

Massachusetts came in as the number 1 best state for millennials, beating out last year's top pick, District of Columbia which came in at number 2 this year.

Last year's worst state for millennials, New Mexico, moved up a spot in 2019. West Virginia took the bottom spot for 2019.

According to the website, millennials are responsible for 21 percent of all consumer discretionary spending in the U.S. yet earn 20 percent less than Baby Boomers did at the same age.

WalletHub complied the list by comparing each state and the District across 30 factors such as millennial unemployment rate and millennial voter-turnout rate.
