Road Rage Was Cause Of Sunrise Highway Shooting: Report

A 24-year-old man was shot while driving in his car down the highway last weekend. Police are still reviewing surveillance video.

LINDENHURST, NY - Suffolk Police believe the shooting on Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst last weekend was a result of road rage, according to a report in Newsday.

A 24-year-old man, who has not been identified, was driving a Buick sedan eastbound on the highway near Straight Path when he was shot.

He pulled over his vehicle and his passenger called 911 at 2:04 p.m.

The man was then transported to a hospital in serious condition. His passenger was not injured.

The two men told police the gunman tried to cut them off and later fired his gun at the passenger side of the Buick when they wouldn't let him in, Newsday reports.

Officers are still reviewing videos from nearby businesses as well as red light cameras. The investigation is ongoing.
