Should locals be enticed by the aroma of fresh-baked goodies to pick up something for the holiday, then they should place their order now, as the holiday dessert rush is here.
Some shops will be open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and residents should expect long lines as they look to get their treats as fresh as possible.

While business isn't exactly booming these days, the holiday season does help the bottom line, especially when those Christmas dinners draw near, and folks run out for their last-minute sweet treats.
"We hope for better, but it's been okay. We're thankful for what we have," said Eileen Biggs of . "We're hoping for a good crowd [on Christmas Eve]. It all depends on the weather, too."

- , 155 North Wellwood Avenue: Opening bright and early on Christmas Eve at 5:30 a.m. and staying open till 5 p.m. Will be open Christmas Day 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Plenty of holiday themed goodies like gingerbread houses are available, with stollens listed as a specialty. Orders should be put in as soon as possible.
- Mr. Bill's Cheesecakes, 773 Wellwood Avenue: They've recently introduced an apple cobbler and a red velvet cheesecake to appease residents' sweet tooths. A sampler platter featuring a variety of the shop's dozens of flavors is available, too. Cheesecake orders should be put in as soon as possible.
- , 173 South Wellwood Avenue: Stop by the for gift baskets, including edible ones. Candy and nut trays are also available for appetizers before the big meal or dessert afterward.
- , 199 S.Wellwood Avenue: Will be open till 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and till 2 p.m. Christmas Day. Some orders are taken in advance, but it's advised to get there as soon as possible for the holidays, as it's largely first-come, first-served basis. An assortment of cookie trays and pastries are available. A $5 off coupon is being offered by the Lindenhurst Village Business Improvement District () in circulars.
- , 235 South Wellwood Avenue: A Lindy , they're open on Christmas Eve from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fresh shortcakes, gingerbread men and fruit stollens are available.
And here's one for residents with a savory tooth this holiday season. Why is this on the "Sweet Treat" list? Well, "How can you have your pudding if you won't eat your meat?" to quote Pink Floyd.
- Joe's Gourmet Meats, 261 South Wellwood Avenue: Joe's offers plenty in the way of holiday meat, from prime rib roast to leg of lamb and spiral cut ham. Six-foot subs are available, along with fish dishes like lobster tails and fried shrimp.
