Town Of Babylon Donates Over $48K To Long Island Cares

The money was raised during the 2019 Babylon Soldier Ride last summer.

TOWN OF BABYLON, NY - The Town of Babylon recently donated over $48,000 raised for a local charity during an event last summer.

Recently, Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer and the rest of the town board presented Long Island Cares with a check for $48,562.50.

The non-profit provides emergency food to families in need.

The money was raised from the 2019 Babylon Soldier Ride, where proceeds from the event were split between Long Island Cares and the Wounded Warrior Project.

The charity event took place last July. The Soldier Ride is an annual bike race starting at Babylon Town Hall and ending at Overlook Beach.

According to the website, a total of $79,283.25 was raised for the two charities.
