2 Nassau Dunkin' Donuts Robbed Minutes Apart

Two Dunkin' Donuts locations just 2.5 miles apart were both robbed — one successfully, one not — minutes apart early Friday, Nassau Police said.

According to police, the first Dunkin' Donuts targeted was at 2885 Long Beach Road in Oceanside. Police say a man entered the store at 12:55 a.m. with his hands in his pockets and demanded the male employee open the cash register. The employee picked up a knife from the counter and told the man to get out. The man left the store and walked away toward Fairview Avenue.

The second Dunkin' Donuts was at 4261 Austin Blvd. in Island Park. Police say a man entered the store at 1:04 a.m., again with his hands in his pockets, and demanded that the male employee give him the register tray. The employee complied, and the man fled the store with the money south on Austin Boulevard.

The man in the first robbery was a white man, about 37 to 45 years old. he was 6 feet, 2 inches tall with a blonde/red mustache, and was wearing a gray hoodie, tan jacket, black sweatpants, black socks and black sandals.

The second robber was also a white man, about 40 years old. He was 6 feet, 2 inches tall and was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

Police say that, at this time, detectives are treating the incidents as robberies by two different men.
