2 Years After Sandy, Laurel Renovates in Honor of Long Beach Patrons

"You have proven that your resilience and resolve is so strong...we owe it to you."

After feeding thousands of Sandy refugees and several generations of beach dwellers, The Laurel Luncheonette & Restaurant plans on giving back to Long Beach with a brand new look that, as it turns out, isn’t so brand new.

The Laurel, a neighborhood staple since 1932, announced they will kick off their long-awaited renovation in the next few weeks.

After getting a feel for what the community wanted, Laurel’s owners assured fans the restaurant would “retain its warmth, coziness and nostalgic feel of yesteryear that you have all grown to love.”

While MND’s glitzy resumé is impressive, Laurel’s owners were clear that the most important opinions in their renovation were those of their loyal customers.

We owe it to Long Beach; when the chips were down, you were there, and we have not forgotten and we will never forget. The Laurel is as much yours as it is ours…it is home.”

The news was met with anticipation and well wishes from Laurel’s biggest fans who said they were happy the restaurant plans to keep its nostalgic feel. A sea of “good lucks” and “congratulations” washed over their announcement on Facebook.
