Long Beach Hosting Sandy Anniversary Ceremony Wednesday

'Unity Walk,' ribbon tying, candlelit walk set for Wednesday evening to mark two years since Hurricane Sandy.

Two years after Hurricane Sandy tore through and all but destroyed Long Beach, the community will commemorate the storm’s anniversary with a special ceremony.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, residents will gather in Kennedy Plaza for a candlelight unity walk to the Long Beach boardwalk.

Participants will be invited to write their names, family names, and messages on blue ribbons that will be tied to the boardwalk.
