City Zoning Board Holding Special Meeting On SNCH Pavilion
The hospital's initial application to build a Medical Arts Pavilion was rejected.

Long Beach's Zoning Board of Appeals will be holding a special meeting next month to discuss the South Nassau Communities Hospital application to build a new medical arts pavilion in the city.
According to the city, the ZBA rejected the hospital's initial application on June 13, writing, "You propose a Medical Arts Pavilion on a property that formerly housed medical offices for outpatient services."
The Medical Arts Pavilion, which would be built on the former Long Beach Medical Center site, would offer primary care, geriatrics, cardiology, pediatrics, radiology and other services, but would not be a full hospital. South Nassau has said that operating a full hospital in Long Beach is just too expensive.

In its initial application, the hospital wrote: “In addition to providing local access to quality, specialized medical services by SNCH physicians and care providers, the proposed action represents a substantial investment in the Long Beach community, and would provide building trade employment during construction, as well as permanent jobs during facility operation, many of which would be high-paying, and would also induce substantial local, secondary economic benefits.”
The Zoning Board of Appeals will be holding a special meeting to hear SNCH’s zoning application on July 9 at 7 p.m. on the 6th Floor of City Hall. All residents are encouraged to attend.
