Coffee, Punch Thrown At Woman's Face In Island Park Store: Police

ISLAND PARK, NY — An Island Park woman was arrested for an assault that took place Tuesday morning.

Two women got into a verbal argument at a Long Beach Road convenience store in Island Park, authorities said.

Melissa Smith, 49, threw a hot cup of coffee into the victim's face and then punched her in the face, police said.

The victim was taken to an area hospital. Smith was taken into custody without incident.

She is charged with second-degree assault and was expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.
