“It is outrageous to think that a public employee collecting wages paid by taxpayers would actively contribute to an epidemic of heroin abuse that is approaching crisis levels in Nassau and beyond,” DA Kathleen Rice said.

Lindsey was indicted by a grand jury and arrested at the depot Wednesday, officials said. At the time, she was found with five oxycodone pills and a small amount of marijuana, cops said.

“This administration has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes employee misconduct, and when our Police Department uncovered what was going on they worked with the District Attorney to investigate and root out the problem.” said Long Beach City Manager Jack Schnirman.

“The Long Beach Police Department is committed to combating this heroin epidemic, which is destroying lives and families,” said LBPD Lt. Stefan Chernaski. “Our Narcotics Task Force will continue to aggressively target all drug dealers and bring them justice.”

County Judge Anthony Paradiso set bail at $20,000 Lindsey, who is due back in court Oct. 30.
