Dome-icile of Love

There are times in the lives of many of us when the earth splits wide beneath our feet. Can we survive?

I walked our Long Beach boards and beach as February drew to a close. We had some strange weather of late, high temps, fog…then windy, cold, clear days.

It was a day of the latter variety when I walked our boards and sands. The wind from the west was granular on the beach and I had to hide my camera lens from its wrath. There really wasn’t much to see or report. I was enjoying the walk though and did appreciate the clear air. But I was about to return home when I spotted something in the distance to cause me to continue.

I happened upon a dome on our beach. From far off the silhouette resembled many things, an igloo, a mushroom, a huge budding blossom? But as I drew near I saw it was a tent. Something very familiar on our beach when the weather is more fit for fun. But at the end of February? How unusual, I thought.

But what I found inside the tent was a story not unusual at all. What I saw, what I heard struck a chord with me. I think it might resonate with one or two of you as well:
