International Beach Tennis Championships

Beach Tennis USA and the International Tennis Federation have teamed up to host the 2011 International Beach Tennis Championships in Long Beach from Aug. 18 through Aug. 21 in front of the Allegria Hotel at National Boulevard and the boardwalk.

The competition will include men’s and women’s pro, amateur, junior matches and a nation’s cup, according to a press release from Beach Tennis USA. International delegations will include Italy, France, Aruba, Bermuda, the Czech Republic, Brazil, the US and Reunion. This is the third leg in the tournament, with the first and second taking place in Miami and Chicago, respectively.

“We are thrilled that Beach Tennis USA is once again able to present its International Championship Tournament from 20th to 21st August. The 2011 edition offers prize money in the amount of $10,000 that ensures this grade 1 ranking tournament is one of the leading highlights of the ITF Beach Tennis Tour,” said Jackie Nesbitt, Head of Professional Circuits at the ITF, in a press release. “BTUSA is doing an outstanding job in terms of introducing, developing and promoting beach tennis in the U.S. and we are excited to be back on the sands of Long Beach, NY.”

“Beach tennis’ leading athletes are taking the sport to new heights and helping to attract more fans than ever,” she added. “I am looking forward to seeing huge growth in beach tennis, which is a game for players of all levels to enjoy and I am very grateful to BTUSA for all its efforts to help make the sport truly global.”
