This musical event centers on music that was banned from Jewish musicians by the Nazis in 1930’s Germany. This program follows these musical artists through that dreadful era as they ultimately migrate to a new land and establish new lives.
Flutist Barbara Siesel and singer, songwriter and storyteller Keith Torgan recreate the times through the music of Bach, Schumann, Hindemith, and Copland, as well as through the cabaret songs of such greats as Frederick Hollaender. In this universal work, mastery, passion and self expression transcend the isolation of hatred, racism and intolerance.
This program is made possible, in part, with public funds from the NYS Council on the Arts Decentralization Program administered by the Huntington Arts Council.
