The Gift

Our old boardwalk was destroyed by Sandy, then rebuilt with epe lumber. But the old found life with new when a man found—his gift

Our City is a sea of talent, art and passion.

I come across it often.

My latest find was, yet again, in the vicinity of Gregg LaPenna’s "Lazar’s Glizzy" boardwalk shack. Most of you know of it already, it stands at Lincoln Blvd on the boards.

Recently, Gregg pointed out Pete Sengenberger as a gifted carpenter. He pointed in much the same manner when he steered me to Hedy Page, another person of passion. So, just as I did with Hedy, I chatted with Pete.

Pete's an unusual man in that he set his course in a certain business field. Armed with what most of us wish we’d achieved, and is often the key to success and wealth—an MBA, he set sail.

But his course changed one day to a vastly different path, carpentry.

Pete is not simply a builder of closets and cabinets, stairways and shelves. His is more art than craft.

Much of what Pete has to say and show will resonate with many of you. You might have changed course as well, or might see now that you still can change course.

We’re all on this same sea you see. Some of us just have the courage to shift sails, set a new course, when we find we’re in the doldrums.

You’ll see Pete Sengenberger is such a brave sailor of our Sea, as he told me about—the gift.

Be well,

Leebythesea
