Holocaust Remembrance Program To Explore Antisemitic Uptick On LI
The Long Beach Police Commissioner will talk at Temple Emanu-El on April 17.

LONG BEACH, NY — In commemoration of Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day, Temple Emanu-El is hosting a special program.
On April 17, Rabbi Jack Zanerhaft will be joined by Long Beach Police Commissioner Ronald Walsh, who is also the acting city manager.
Walsh will discuss investigating and prosecuting hate crimes, and the rise in anti-semitic attacks on Long Island.

According to data from the Anti-Defamation League, anti-semitic incidents, including harassment and assault, jumped by 36% in 2022 nationally. It was the largest increase since the organization began tracking antisemitic activity in 1979.
While the ADL reported antisemitic incidents in all 50 states and D.C., the highest number was in New York with 580 incidents last year.

The event takes place from 7:30-8:30 p.m. and is open to the public. There will also be a candle lighting in honor of the Holocaust victims.
