LONG BEACH, NY — It's been a tough time for the LaPenna family since fourth-grader Lazar LaPenna died playing Little League.

There have been tributes from children across the island and elsewhere.

"It's overwhelming. It's a moment of happiness," his father Gregg LaPenna told Patch. "Obviously, followed up by many tears."
