ICYMI: Man Attempts to Lure 15-Year-Old Into Van

A man attempted to lure a Long Beach teen into his van in Long Beach on Friday morning, according to police.
The 15-year-old was approached by a man driving a light blue work van at about 9:50 a.m. on New York Avenue and West Beech Street.

The man asked the teen if he needed a ride and drove away after the boy declined. No injuries were reported.
Police are currently investigating this incident.

Long Beach Police also provided some tips for parents to share with their kids including:
• They should not approach just anyone.
• It’s important for them to get permission before going anywhere with anyone.
• Tell their parent right away if anyone asks them to keep a secret or makes them feel uncomfortable.
• If they need help, they can look for a uniformed police officer, a store clerk with a nametag, or a parent with children.
