ICYMI: Oceanside Man Wanted for Bank Robbery Turns Himself In: Police

An Oceanside man who police say robbed a Great Neck Plaza bank in December surrendered himself to police Monday morning.

On Sunday, Dec. 6., Jay Teich, 47, entered Capital One bank, located at 121 Middle Neck Road, and handed a note to a 22-year-old female teller and demanded money at 1 p.m., police say.

Tiech fled the bank with an unknown amount of cash and entered the passenger side of a blue or black BMW, which drove away south on Middle Neck Road, police say.

There were five employees and one customer in the bank at the time of the robbery. No injuries were reported, police said.

Tiech was arrested at 10 a.m. and charged with third-degree robbery. He will be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
