Life on a Grain of Sand

Sure there is pain in this Earth life, for you, for me, for the creatures before us.

We’ve felt our own pain acutely, we’ve seen it bring down some close to us. Some of us have sadly seen it right here on our Long Beach shore.

I wrote recently about our oystercatchers and how they endured a gull attack. This is a close up to that drama, it's about the rescuers and the survivors...and you and me.

It’s a story that some of us, those who have been torn up a bit by life, can relate to. It’s about seeing life’s moments as singular experiences, as singular grains of sand on a broad white beach.

But mostly it’s about surviving, and sustaining, and most importantly…savoring:
