Long Beach Announces Slate Of Memorial Day Weekend Events
The official beach opening, the Memorial Day Parade, annual 10-mile race and more will make this a busy weekend on the Barrier Island.

The City of Long Beach has a full slate of events planned for Memorial Day weekend to kick of the unofficial start of the summer, but the official start of the Barrier Island's beach season.
The city is kicking off the season on Friday with a grand opening celebration for the beach. It's in celebration of not only the beach opening, but the completion of the Army Corps of Engineers beach restoration project. It will be on the Riverside Boulevard Boardwalk at 10 a.m., and everyone is invited.
On Saturday, beach season officially begins when the beach opens at 9 a.m. Lifeguards will be on duty from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday is also the opening day of both the Farmers Market and the Arts in the Plaza at Kennedy Plaza. The Farmers Market will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Arts in the Plaza will go from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sunday is the City Manager's 10-Mile/5K Race to Remember. Registration for the 43rd annual race runs from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. at the Rec Center, and the race kicks off at 8 a.m. at Magnolia Boulevard and Park Avenue. You can also register online by clicking here.
And on Monday, the city will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade, which steps off at Ohio Avenue at 10 a.m., and ends at the reviewing stand in front of City Hall on Park Avenue.

The Chabad of the Beaches annual carnival is also running all weekend long at the corner of Broadway and Edwards Boulevard. The carnival is open from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday, and from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
