Long Beach Can 'Sign Up' To Thank Essential Workers
This family project is a way to spend quality time together, and also thank the people who are keeping society functioning.

LONG BEACH, NY — With families home and stuck inside during the quarantine, many parents are looking for activities to do with their children. One Long Beach resident has an answer: show your appreciation for the essential workers who are keeping society going.
Deborah Contino, a longtime school counselor, wants Long Beach to "Sign Up." The plan is for kids and families to make signs to show appreciation for essential workers, and then display them in front of their homes and around town.
Contino's friend did it in her town, and Contino thought it would be a great idea to bring to Long Beach. Not only would it give families a project to work on together, but it can be a teachable moment for kids.

"In life, the 'small things are the BIG things!" Contino said. " Long Beach students can truly make difference in an essential workers day by this gesture of kindness."
