Long Beach City Council Results: New Wave Dems Ticket Sweeps
Tuesday night's election featured two tickets, with the New Wave Dems defeating the Working Families party.
LONG BEACH, NY — The New Wave Dems ticket, which featured candidates Ronald Paganini, Elizabeth Treston and Karen McInnis, swept Tuesday night's Democratic primary for Long Beach City Council and the trio will go on to face three Republicans in the fall who ran unopposed.
The New Wave Dems ticket claimed victory around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday during a raucous celebration party at JJ Coopers on West Park Avenue.
The party wrote in a Facebook post: "We did it! Paganini, Treston, McInnis ALL win!!! Thank you Long Beach!!!!!!!!!

Seven Long Beach Democrats were vying for three city council member spots. The New Wave Dems defeated the Working Families party ticket, which included James Mulvaney, Anthony Eramo and Chumi Diamond.
Eramo had been seeking a third term and is the current council president while Diamond is the council's vice president.
