Long Beach City Council Votes on Consulting Firm For Proposed $1 Million Emergency Center
The New York City based firm will assist the city with their plan to build the center at City Hall.

LONG BEACH, NY - The Long Beach City Council recently voted to hire a New York City based consulting firm to assist in the plan to build a $1 million emergency services center at City Hall.
After reviewing two proposals received by the Office of the City Purchasing Agent back in February to provide emergency planning services to the City, the council voted to hire RedLand Strategies, Inc. at the last council meeting on April 5, according to the meeting agenda.
The company was the "most qualified proposer, providing services on issues related to homeland security, storm recovery, planning, resourcing and developing of our facilities as well as policies, plans and procedures for emergency management and response," the agenda reads.

The city plans to allocate a total of $25 million from governor’s Community Reconstruction Program in order to build the emergency center for disasters such as superstorm Sandy in 2012, Newsday reports.
The city will be paying the company $4,000 per month for one year, with the option for the contract to be renewed twice for one year periods, according to the agenda.
