Long Beach To Have Weekend Lifeguards Through End Of September
The city is extending this year's beach season by keeping lifeguards on staff until the end of the month, but only on weekends.

LONG BEACH, NY — Following the trend of most other beaches on Long Island, Long Beach announced today that it will be keeping lifeguards on weekend duty through the end of September.
Last week, it was announced that the majority of Long Island beaches would have lifeguards on staff on the weekends to extend the beach season through the end of September. Today, Acting Long Beach Police Commissioner Philip Ragona announced the City by the Sea would be following suit.
According to the city, lifeguards will be on duty Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through the end of September, weather permitting. Swimming is prohibited when lifeguards are not on duty.
