Long Beach Parade, 5K Set To Support Wounded Veterans
The nonprofit is hosting their 11th annual day of fundraising for wounded service members this upcoming Sunday in Long Beach.
LONG BEACH, NY — Long Beach will host runners and a parade Sunday to support wounded veterans. The 11th annual Long Beach Waterfront Warriors is set to bring an action-packed day of fundraising and support, with veterans invited to march in the parade.
The group has honored wounded veterans through the event for the past decade. Veterans will also enjoy a weeklong vacation in Long Beach with their families, the Long Island Herald reported.
The festivities get underway Sunday with a 5K race at 8 a.m. on Grand Boulevard and the Boardwalk. Runners can pay $20 to participate in the event if they register before Sunday. It's $25 to register the day of, according to the organization's website. All registration money will go to charitable foundations serving armed forces members.

The event continues with a parade at 3 p.m., which will begin on Ohio Avenue and end on New York Avenue. A barbecue at the Long Beach Catholic School will reportedly follow the parade.
A fundraiser will also take place at 4 p.m. at The Inn on 943 West Beech St. Participants can enjoy an open bar and appetizers while raising money for wounded veterans through a raffle and live auction. Admission to the fundraiser is $50.
