Long Beach Planning To Build 2,500 Feet Of New Bulkheads
The bulkheads will be designed to help prevent flooding in the city from Reynolds Channel.

The City of Long Beach is planning on building 2,500 feet of new bulkheads along the north shore of the Barrier Island, documents filed with the Department of Environmental Conservation show.
The city hopes to reduce flooding and protect critical infrastructure by building the bulkheads, which will run from Waterfront Park to Monroe Boulevard, along Reynolds Channel.
The bulkhead won't be huge, though. It will be constructed with fill to match the shoreline. The DEC has already ruled it will not have an impact on the environment.
