Long Beach Student Helps Seniors Overcome Hurricane Sandy

A Long Beach graduate was selected to participate in the 2014 Student Leaders program from Bank of America.

Jamie Morgenstern, of Lido Beach, was awarded an eight-week paid internship at Education & Assistance Corporation through the program and worked to help support families who continue to recover from Sandy.

Jamie also traveled to Washington D.C. to take part in a national Student Leadership Summit where she honed leadership skills, networked with students, and participated a service project.

Jamie also volunteered with EAC’s Seniors Overcoming Sandy program, Hofstra University’s Coastal Marsh Project, Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and City of Long Beach’s relief efforts.

Jamie was one of five Long Island students to make the program including Colleen Flynn, of Commack, Raemie Ladner, of Rockville Centre, Iman Lee, of Huntington Station, and Tanisha Verneus, of Valley Stream.
