Long Beach Trains Back On Schedule
An early morning derailment left the branch in disarray this morning.

UPDATE: As of 3 p.m., the MTA says that the Long Beach Branch trains are running on schedule with no more problems from this morning's derailment.

ORIGINAL STORY: Service has been partially restored on the Long Beach Branch of the LIRR after a minor train derailment this morning shut the branch down.
According to Newsday, an empty train partially derailed at the Long Beach depot at about 5:15 a.m., blocking access to the depot and resulting in the suspension of service to the Long Beach Branch, which services Long Beach, Island Park, Oceanside, East Rockaway and Lynbrook.

The LIRR says trains on the branch are running hourly, and buses are being used to get riders between Island Park and Long Beach — the last two stops on the line.
