Man Arrested For Robbing Valley Stream Gas Station at Gunpoint: Police

The man was caught in Lynbrook by a local detective, police say.

VALLEY STREAM, NY - A Lynbrook man was arrested for robbing a Valley Stream gas station on Wednesday night, according to Nassau County Police.

Andrew Alonge, 25, entered the Valero Gas Station on 192 E. Sunrise Highway armed with a black handgun and demanded the money from the two male clerks at about 7:51 p.m., police said.

He fled east on Sunrise Highway with an undisclosed amount of cash and a cell phone, according to police.

A Lynbrook detective heard the notification and responded to the area where he found Alonge on Scranton Avenue and High Street and arrested him, police said.

The proceeds and the gun were recovered. No injuries were reported.

Alonge is charged with second degree robbery, police said.

He will be arraigned on Thursday.
