A Mother's Day Squiggle

I went into one of our Long Beach coffee houses Saturday, the day before Mother's Day. I met a mom and a squiggler.

No, the squiggler wasn’t the babe in her arms. It was a squiggle aficionado who practiced his art right there in Gentle Brew.

I chatted with him while he performed, and decided that you might like to hear about his art.

Then I spoke with a mom who held a baby and told her about the squiggler. As I spoke she smiled and the smile spread from her, to the barista, to me...and the squiggler.

I’ve noticed that people are much more willing to interact in coffee houses than they are almost anywhere else in our fair town of Long Beach, NY. It’s a warming trend in coffee houses, kinda like a springtime in the Andes. You might want to catch a whiff of it here:
