Nassau County Has Lowest Unemployment Rate in the State: Mangano
The unemployment rate has decreased almost 3 percent since 2010.

NASSAU COUNTY - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announced on Wednesday that Nassau County is currently leading New York State with the lowest unemployment.
The drop in unemployment was caused by economic policies that have frozen County property taxes for five years and helped create more than 25,000 local jobs implemented by County officials and economic development experts, according to Mangano.
The unemployment rate has dropped to 4.2 percent this past January, down from 7 percent in 2010 compared to the state and nationwide rate of 4.9 percent, according to New York State Department of Labor statistics.

“My administration knows that high taxes kill jobs and depress the local economy. That is why I repealed the Home Energy Tax and worked with the Legislature to freeze property taxes for five years,” Mangano said. “Our taxpayer conscious policies have sent a clear message to employers to create local jobs."
Over 25,000 private sector jobs have been created in Nassau County, Mangano said.
