New Waffle 'Food Stand' Opens in Long Beach

The eatery offers fresh, thick, buttery "Liege-style" waffles as well as coffee.

LONG BEACH, NY - It's no surprise that a new eatery has recently opened up in Long Beach just in time for summer. However, what is surprising is how different it is from other eateries.

Waffle Cabin, a waffle "food stand", officially opened its doors on May 21 at its new location on 874B West Beech Street.

What makes this eatery stand out from the rest is that the customers have to stand to eat. The new culinary hot spot offers fresh, thick, buttery “Liege-style” waffles served through a window - there's no tables or chairs. They also offer coffee.

The original concept for the stand was started by Peter Creyf and Ingrid Heyrman.

Originally called it “Leo’s – Gaufres de Liège”, the eatery was operated from a pushcart at Quincy Market in Boston in
May 1998.

The owners then expanded the eatery to be offered at ski resorts and after a short time, the resorts were requesting that they open a cabin on their slopes.

Now, there are about 30 locations nationwide, with three in New York. The Long Beach location marks the brand's first location on Long Island.

The eatery is open everyday except for Tuesdays. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays the hours are from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays the stand is open until 2 a.m. and on Sundays the hours are from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
